(Edit and post at your electrical panel) Generator connection and operation AC Power outage 1. Check main disconnect, 200A breaker at bottom of main panel. Turn off and back on to ensure it hasn't tripped. 2. In main panel turn off all breakers with the exception of living and entry. Turn switch for living room lights on. This will prevent surge or spike damage through house, and give an indication when power has returned. 3. Open main garage door. Release door opener by pulling red tag and lift door manually. Bring generator outdoors. 4. Connect large grey cord from side of electrical panel to generator. Twist to lock on both ends. 5. Check oil level, top up fuel, etc. 6. Start engine, run five minutes to warm up and stabilize. 7. In generator transfer panel, turn all breakers to the off position. 8. Turn mains breaker off - left and generator breaker on - center. 9. Turn on breakers in the following order, leaving 15 seconds between each item. - Well pump - Sewer pump - Furnace - Fridge - Freezer 10. Turn on all remaining breakers in generator transfer panel. Refuelling 1. In generator transfer panel, turn generator breaker off - right. 2. Turn off generator with red switch near pull cord. 3. Allow engine to cool before refuelling. Refill fuel tank when cooled. 4. Go to step 5 in AC Power Outage above. AC Power restored 1. In generator transfer panel, turn generator breaker off - right, and turn utility breaker on - center. 2. Return breakers in the main panel to on position. 3. Turn off fuel switch above pull cord. Engine will shut down due to lack of fuel. 4. Unplug large grey cord from generator and side of electrical panel. Coil up and return to hook. 5. Return generator to garage when cooled off. Generator will supply power to the following circuits only 1. Well pump (240VAC - 2 circuits) 2. Furnace 3. Septic pump 4. Fridge 5. Freezer 6. Microwave oven 7. Bedroom lights, bathroom lights and outlets. 8. Kitchen lights, dining room lights, main hallway lights and outlets. 9. Kitchen countertop outlets, lower outlets only. (2 circuits) 10.
