Carl's 1984 Porsche 944

Purchased new by me in June 1984, this 944 has been lovingly maintained for nineteen years. It now clocks 81,000 miles. With a little more detailing, it will rank among the cleanest examples around.

Contrary to what you might expect from a car this old, it is, and has been, a relatively trouble free Porsche. It's early years were spent as a weekend driver and autocrosser. For the last year or so I have been detailing and upgrading so it has not seen a lot of running time. It's becoming a garage queen, mostly under cover in the garage.

The clutch, water pump, motor mounts, all belts, power steering hose and power antenna were replaced at 60,000 miles. I replaced the tie rod ends at 80,000 miles. Over the years I've replaced three batteries, three sets of Yokohamas and one set of Dunlops (currently running Bridgestone S-03's. Other than that, meticulous maintenance, i.e., oil changes at 3000 mile intervals, oil, air and fuel filters replaced periodically.

Although it has a number of "upgrades" all OEM parts are retained to bring it back to concours originality, if and when I tire of tinkering with it.

Currently it sports a 931 vented nose panel, polished 16" Fuchs, 951 rocker trim, burlwood dash, MOMO F16 Carbon knob and boot, Zimmermann cross drilled rotors with painted hats and matching paint on the calipers, Autothority DME, Autothority throttle cam, MSDS intake, Bursch header and test pipe, Koni shocks,

Weltmeister strut brace, Nology coil, Vosstek pedals, etc.
