Autopower Rollbar Installation

Remove the Seats
The first step to install this rollbar is to remove the seats. Six bolts total per seat, two in front and four in back.
Position Assembled Rollbar in Car
Then place the completely assembled rollbar inside the car and mark the position of the mounting plates with masking tape. These locations are only approximate since the rollbar is resting on about 10mm of carpet and noise-deadening material.
The actual positions will be about 6mm towards the rear for the floor plates. The fender mounting plates will be about 6mm lower and towards the front.

Remove Rollbar and Cut out Carpet
Take out the rollbar or move it so you can cut out the carpet under the mounting plates. But, there's a catch, the tape marks the location of the rollbar mounting plates if the rollbar was to be bolted in ABOVE the carpeting. You'll have to reposition the tape to account for the thickness of the carpeting. I moved the floor plate position 5mm rearward.
The fender mounting-plate position needs to be moved 5mm forward as well. Also remove all the sound deadening material under the carpeting. Does removing all of this material under the carpeting REALLY save 150lbs? Has anyone actually weighed all the pieces?

Drill Holes and Temporarily Install Bolts
If you try to mark the holes and remove the rollbar to drill holes, you'll find that they won't line up correctly when the rollbar is reinstalled. It's easier to keep the rollbar installed and use the mounting plates as guides to drill the holes.
Drill one hole per plate first and drop a bolt into it to hold it in position. Then go around and drill the remaining holes and drop bolts into them. You'll have to remove the rollbar to drill the hole at the front-outside position of the mounting plate that goes over the fender.

Install Backing Plates and Tighten Bolts
Once all the holes have been drilled and you are sure all the bolts are aligned, you can install the backing plates and tighten up the nuts. Be sure to use lock-washers and thread-locking compound.
The bolts on the floor can go through from the top without any problems. But the bolts holding the rear arms of the rollbar should have the heads on the outside to provide clearance for the tires!
I acutally tightened the fender bolts up then replaced them one at a time with shorter bolts trimmed to the perfect length for a flush finished look.

And ... the final finished installation!
(don't forget to put your seats back in)
